An Abundance of Wands

My sister buys magic wands for her daughter.
These star topped pieces of dreams
are silver star sparkle streamer,
golden and pink glitter mesh on top of a gilded pipe cleaner,
child painted, crafted sloppy but sweet, cardboard.

These wands hold so much more than magic.
They hold the dreams my sister has for her daughter-
the dreams she did not dare dream for herself-
whispered from somewhere so secret
it is locked behind her eyes.

Somehow,
she hopes these dreams can be unlocked
with the right words and,
more importantly,
the right wand.
