Shopping with Miss Havisham

Tonight, she ran over my foot with her cart.
She rasped at me that the love I had would hurt me
some day.
She wore all white, that’s how I knew it was her,
And when I looked in her cart
I saw that she had found the most unhealthy things
she could at the organic market.

  1. Only the hurt from love could make a person so mean. She has a cruel warning. Forgive her, and pity her food choices when you arrive in your happy home.

  2. I found this poem really funny – the strange encounters we have out in the white glare of supermarkets!

  3. Wendy, you bring kindness to the ugliness of this sad creature.
