Faces of the Moon

You and I were in conversation with entirely different faces
of the same moon.
She smiled at me and frowned at you and,
in the meantime,
we were interrupted by someone
somewhere else
who got from the moon the face of her mother-
smile slanting toward the rising sun-
whose face cannot be looked at and,
because of that,
cannot be confused.
